Report on KETCHUP & MAJO at Margin: |
|
|
"Ketchup and Mayo offers an alternative to bulk commodity by reworking used materials into garments. Because of this, no one garment is ever the same.
Debuting its first collection in room 101, Ketchup and Mayo presents a humorous autumn/winter 2007/08 with quirky prints and clever cut-outs inspired by a carnival theme.
Fabrics are kept simple using predominantly jersey and sheet-cotton throughout the collection.
We love the functional details like drawstrings and zips that are subtly integrated to add a quirky, comic edge."

KINDRED CLOTHIERS +
|
Making their international debut outside of the USA, Margin was pleased to welcome the graphic stylings of Kindred Clothiers.
Producing some of the freshest graphics around, Kindred cleverly riff on numerous themes including ships, muskets, cartography, wood, and strong historical emphasis on hunters, lumberjacks, and old-time mariners.
Kindred produces wearable graphic experiments which are stylish and directional as well as desirable and highly sell-able.

"It was my first time showing at MARGIN and I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. However, I needn’t have worried as it turned out to be a wholly fantastic (not to mention profitable!) experience. I’ll now most definitely become a MARGIN regular and am already looking forward to the next show."

"As a first time exhibitor it's hard to decide which show is the one that will cater to your market fully, never wanting to waste any opportunity. Perfectly Flawed found Margin to be a fun, light hearted, friendly environment where there was a great mix of styles, tastes and brands! The venue was chic and fitted in with the garments on display with a flux of buyers from all over the world all eager to see the next new label/Brand. What more could you ask for in a Trade show! Margin is the Mecca for all cool boutiques and labels alike."

PRIVATE SCHOOL ASSAULT WEAR +
|
Private School Assault Wear made their European debut at Margin with their range of Mens and Womens wear.
Combining preppy styling with subversive elements, Private School Assault Wear is a new label from Los Angeles that comes on like The O.C. meets Battle Royale.

Finally a Western label has taken on the concept of School Uniforms mixed with the Japanese adulation of evil schoolkids such as Chiaki Kuriyama without it seeming cartoonish or childish.

"New York-based design label Somebody Like Us made its first appearance at Margin in room 101. The collection consists of printed T-shirts for the smart, urban street market.
Inspired by the artistic power of the graphic T-shirt, its spring/summer 2007 collection features delicately hand-drawn images of lowrider bikes, padlocks and bike chains.
These oversized placements work well in neon and opaque shades against black or beige backgrounds.
We love the attention to detail here, with custom fitting and super-soft vintage-style fabrics offering plenty of comfort."

Report on Tee & Toast at Margin: |
|
|
"Retreat was formed by graphic designer and DJ Paul Sudron.
Inspired by an interest in social and political issues, the collection is centred around a series of powerful visual ideas. Bold graphic prints aim to question current international conflict.
Retreat first gained interest on MySpace.com. With orders coming in largely from the American hip hop market, the collection has embraced the oversized American 3XL sized T-shirt.
Highlights from this collection are expressive hand-drawn abstract illustrations, which are all hand-printed on to cotton T-shirts."

STUNT DOUBLE +
“Margin was great for Stunt Double, we acquired a huge amount of contacts from buyers, distributors and press. The interest in our brand was astounding. The set up of the show was cool, intimate and had a boutique sense to it. The 101 room was excellent to launch our brand, and the only way to accumulate such a wealth of industry contacts. We’ll be back in February but in the main room, it’s a bit bigger in there, with more established brands, which generated a bigger buzz. In short, Margin has provided us with a very high platform from which to launch our brand. The rest is up to us...”

TEE AND TOAST +

Report on Tee & Toast at Margin: |
|
|
"Tee and Toast showed its debut collection in room 101.
Founded in 2005 by graphic designer Claire Mulllen, the company started as a small T-shirt brand transferring vintage iron-on prints onto vintage tee's. The company has since developed into a dynamic youth-driven apparel and accessories business.
Throughout the collection there is a play on nostalgic and childlike graphics worked in simple one-colour prints.
The company is based in Ireland and distributes to stores in across the UK and the US. It hopes to attract London retailer through Margin."

Margin exists to promote young upscale
streetwear and directional tailoring labels.
The trade fair exhibition Margin London was
established to help new labels reach a wider
buying and press audience. The trade shows
Margin London were created out of necessity.
Retailers travel the world looking for "the next
big thing" but are never going to find it at a
fashion tradeshow whose costs prohibit fresh
talent which is where the Margin upscale
streetwear exhibition plays a vital part
by providing a credible and affordable
platform for new talent.
|
The main drive of Margin London was to establish a show where new young labels and "up and coming" design talent could find an affordable platform to exhibit at Margin London to the UK & international fashion trade and press. Margin is a fashion exhibition in London presenting fashion collections from fashion labels based in London and international. The London Fashion Exhibition in London is long-standing and has been running since August 2002. The February 2008 edition marks the occasion of the 12th show of the Fashion Exhibition in London. Margin is a clothing trade show taking place in the UK in London in February 2008.
|
Margin in London is now a firm must-visit fixture on the international trade show and fashion fair calendar for directional independent boutiques, multiples & department stores across the UK, Europe and Japan. Margin London features the following categories of exhibitors as well as others:
